  Whoah! Roadside stop, random pick but so glad we did. Whole family enjoyed their  lunch choices tremendously!

  Having lived in Southern California I was exposed to a lot of different kinds of food.  Traditional Chinese food was one of them as I dated a guy from Taiwan.  He took me to the best hole in the wall restaurants.  My husband and I ordered take out today and were extremely dissatisfied.  The Szechuan noodles with beef came was the worst part.  You could tell that the beef was left over from other dishes.  I found this slices of beef and a couple of chunks fat on them.  The broth was so watered down I could barely taste it.  The Szechuan Chicken was ok.  The Veggies were fresh but it was still sub par.  My hubby got some seafood dish that tasted like it was off.  The best part of the meal was the shrimp sauce and even that was watery and looked like the just added pink dye to it.  This place makes Panda Express taste like a vacation to China.

  I can't believe I haven't reviewed Magic Wok yet. Most of my life I thought I hated Chinese food. I always found it so bland and could never get spice. Then a friend introduced me to Szechuan cuisine in Flushing, NY and I realized I had been eating Americanized crap my entire life.
  
  Magic Wok has 2 menus. Take the American menu and toss it aside and order off the Szechuan menu. If you want a truly authentic experience then order off-menu. One time I ordered the dry pot. It is like the hot pot but with no soup to soak up the spices so you will get the true spice flavor and numbing effects. But the taste is amazing.
  
  On the Szechuan menu, my favorites are the Shiang La Mushrooms and the shredded potatoes in Szechuan sauce.
  
  Service is also very friendly and knowledgeable. They also offer delivery in case you don't want to go out.

  It's nice to offer praise where it is due. The hot tea was very nice and the price for dinner was very low.
  
  Our first impressions was formed by the dirty windows at the front of the restaurant. Then, after entering, we were endlessly amused by the way our shoes stuck to the floor. But, this was Christmas Eve and there were very few restaurants open...and we were hungry.
  
  The girl at the counter opened the dialogue with "Eating in"?
  "Good evening" I replied. "Yes please". We were given menus and told to sit wherever we wanted. Some long time later, we were asked if we wanted drinks. My wife asked for unsweetened tea. I asked for hot tea. The hot tea, as stated above, was very nice. My wife couldn't drink the preparation she was given.
  
  I ordered a spring roll and wonton soup. My wife ordered chicken with vegetables and garlic sauce. The solitary roll appeared on a saucer and the spring bit was okay, but he roll bit was thick and chewy. However, there appeared to be only two people working in the restaurant and I forgave them the roll. Then came the wonton soup. It's difficult to characterize it, but 'crappy' is a fair description. I couldn't eat it all. The broth was watery, the wontons were awful, the rest was the equal of the wontons.
  
  My wife's dinner arrived. Some of it was quite nice, but she confided some of the tastes in it were "odd". Incidentally this Asian restaurant had run out of white rice.
  
  Then, there were the toilets. Like the windows they appeared to not have been cleaned since Jesus was in short pants.
  
  Finally, I don't judge people who function better with small animals than humans, and I like dogs, but I prefer not to share my eating space with the small, scratching grubby variety. If this is also your preference, The Magic Wok is not for you.
  
  This restaurant gets some good reviews, but I can only review my own experience; and on this night, 2 stars is generous.

  My husband and I are in awe...in a very not good way. We ordered take out- we've just moved back to the area and trying to find our favorite Chinese go to for take out. This is embarrassing and disgusting food. We ordered chicken fried rice- the chicken tasted fake and rubbery. I literally couldn't stomach it. We ordered General Tsao Chicken and it's dry and very over cooked with little to no chicken inside. Lastly we ordered beef and broccoli and the beef was unbelievably chewy. Very small amounts for eleven dollars an entry. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Disgusted is a better adjective. See pics
